COUNCIL OF EUROPE
Awareness raising campaign for Free Legal Aid project
In 2016 the experts of Sova Communications agency, Ekaterina Rovnova and Yulia Urakcheeva, participated in the joint project of the Council of Europe and Ministry of Justice of Russia. “Free Civil Legal Aid and Assistance for Vulnerable Groups in the Russian Federation” with the aim of improving access to justice for low-income citizens and other vulnerable population groups within the Russian Federation. The Council of Europe commissioned us to create a complex strategy and plan for the free legal aid awareness campaign for key groups. Moreover, we developed training to that purpose and trained project teams in three pilot cities of the project. Thus, regional project teams were given an efficient tool with which to work on their awareness raising efforts.
The manual that we prepared was then shared with the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation and published on their website dedicated to free legal aid. The “Free Civil Legal Aid Decision-Making Tool” was one of the measures developed in collaboration with the regions under this project. The Tool is targeted at the regional authorities responsible for the planning and implementation of the system of free legal aid in a region.
